Park Street on a rainy day!
ParkStreet

The most happening and buzzing place in Kolkata. From Street food to Fine dine , Pubs and bars to Bakery you name it and park street and surrounding area have it.

Sweets shops all around Kolkata

Bengali sweets are really famous and dirt cheap in Kolkata. The two of our favorite are Sandesh and Rasgulla.

So a visit to Kolkata is incomplete without trying out these sweets. The good part is one can buy a single piece of sweet over the counter. Unlike other cities where it is been weighed in Kilos.

The Great Banyan Tree : Love the wild

Located in Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden of Howrah,Kolkata. It’s one of the oldest in India and biggest one across the world.  So, A  250-Year-old banyan tree which is spread across 4 acres of an area does make to the list of must visits in Kolkata.

Kolkata is a city which is spread vertically , so yes it does takes the time to travel from one place to another. Therefore do plan you trip timing accordingly so that less time is wasted in commuting .

Shopping and Souvenirs

A Getaway or a holiday is incomplete without some shopping and taking away some souvenirs, so here are few items which you can buy on your visit to Kolkata .

Sarees

Sarees are the most adorned dress of Kolkata, a white saree with a red border , which is commonly known as Lal Paar Sarees, this saree is not only being worn as traditional Durga puja( festival ) attire but it’s the best way to describe the true color of Kolkata. Other sarees like Tussar and Vishnupuri silk are also quite famous and a good take away from Kolkata.

Since sarees are popular buys amongst tourists, shopkeepers may quote exorbitant prices , so make it a thumb rule to bargain a little before picking up an item.

Terracotta Products

Clay products of idols to horse to bowls , everything is handmade by the talented clan of Kolkata . Therefore a small earthen bowl for your showpiece or a Durga Maa idol for the home are must buy from Kolkata.

Even if you think you are limited on space or did not get enough time then do buy those Yellow taxi fridge magnet from the airport.
